In Defense of Animals has launched a colorful new initiative to support fur-free retailers around the world for Fur Free Friday, Nov. 25! The “Official Fur Free Retailer” window stickers encourage fur-free shopping choices and show support for regional fur sales bans. In Defense of Animals is inviting animal activists to order the window decals to take part in Fur Free Friday this year.Ad Slot 4

Fur Free Friday is an annual day of action held on “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving, which is the busiest shopping day of the year. Organizations and advocates worldwide advocate for furbearing animals in a long-standing tradition of peaceful protests, online actions, and community engagement to encourage fur-free purchases for the holidays and beyond.

Animal victims of the fur trade, such as foxes and mink, are forced to suffer on dismal fur farms where they are confined to tiny cages until they are violently killed. The terrified animals are internally electrocuted, gassed, bludgeoned, or have their necks broken before their fur is ripped from their body. Ad Slot 5

Coyotes, raccoons, and other furbearing animals in the wild are caught by vicious traps designed to inflict severe injuries to prevent animals from escaping. If they survive without food, water, and protection until the trappers return, they are shot and killed.

Many designers, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Armani, and Versace, have dropped animal fur in response to consumer demand for compassionately-produced clothing. Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and many retailers have also opted to eliminate fur sales from their stores.

Fur-free retailers big and small that have taken a fashion-forward stance against selling animal fur can now be supported and celebrated in their communities with In Defense of Animals’ “Official Fur-Free Retailer” window stickers. When displayed in store windows, the stickers indicate that the retailer does not sell any animal fur items. The colorful signs include a QR code for furkills.org, the one-stop website for anyone who wants to help furbearing animals. Animal advocates can sign petitions, print posters and flyers, follow a step-by-step guide to pass a local fur sales ban ordinance, or order more window stickers! Ad Slot 6

Lisa Levinson, Campaigns Director at In Defense of Animals said, “We’re thrilled to make compassionate shopping easier and support fur-free businesses through our new ‘Official Fur-Free Retailer’ window stickers. The fur-free movement is snowballing and we are happy to provide all the tools an animal advocate needs to end the brutal fur trade wherever they live.”
