Pavilion’s Tokyo Street is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and scrapbookers will be happy to know that the festivities include a pop-up store by cult Japanese washi tape brand MT masking tape. Known for their creative washi tape exhibition-installation pop-up retail spaces (previous outings include Singapore and Taiwan), the washi tape empire has worked with long-time collaborator Japanese artist Koji Iyama on the pop-up at Pavilion’s centre court.

It’s a washi wonderland – the centre court and Spanish Steps are all taped up in colourful washi tapes, washi tapes dangle from giant steel pentagons on the ceiling (five for Tokyo Street’s fifth anniversary), and best of all, tabletops full of multi-hued tapes to browse through (a rough estimate placed it at more than 200 washi tapes; take your pick from their latest collections, super slim masking tapes, Sanrio tapes, home collection tapes, blackboard tapes and more).

Highlights: washi tape gachapon machines (try your luck at RM9 per capsule), a rubber stamping station, and this weekend's washi tape workshops conducted by Szetoo Weiwen of stationery specialist Stickerrific (July 30 and 31, 10am and 2pm; word has it that seats are filling up fast; but you can always drop by Stickerrific for more workshops). Plus, you'll also find exclusive Malaysia-themed limited edition tapes here. There are six of them: bunga raya, shuttlecocks, traditional wau, a colourful Tokyo Street theme that’s mirrored in the pop-up, Putrajaya’s skyline reflected in its lakes, and for good measure – Bornean sun bears.

Now go get stuck in before the pop-up ends on August 7.
